Default Inherent Scythes, Spears and more ('10 Mauso) | Dualvamp Halfmoon | r8 +5 GothicSword

Hi folks,

tl;dr

I'd still like to know if the proposed theory in my second bump below is right. Do tanks on SC/farming teams use two-handed double vamps to get below 50% health before aggro'ing?

For everything else below, I think I've got as much PC as I can reasonably expect to be available. Thanks to everyone for the replies and help!

****************************************

I realize these things are tricky, but I'd sure appreciate any insight or history you can offer me on these.

Potentially Double Vamp Half Moon (Shortbow)

r10 15/-1hp gold Half Moon

My understanding of the market for double vamps led me to believe they must be one-handed for using a -50hp cesta, too. However, a couple weeks ago I saw claims that there is, indeed, a market for two-handed double vamp weapons. Could anyone explain to me what's driving demand for those, and could anyone help me PC this funky bow?

EDIT - Nov. 28 - As people have asked me about this one specifically, and I like the idea of leaving breadcrumbs for anyone searching PC for similar items in the future, I wanted to leave a link here to my friend, fallenangel's sell thread where this bow is being sold. I handed it over to him to sell on his thread, as I didn't think it would fit well in my upcoming thread of mauso stuff (which I hope to get posted today or tomorrow and will try to leave a breadcrumb link here for, too.)

r8 +5 Gothic Sword

ninja'd in a few min. later Any current PC for a max, gold, r8 +5en inherent Gothic Sword? I'm just curious and thought I'd ask here, too.

EDIT - Thank you for the replies on this, seriously! I told the friend I had hoped to lure back to GW with the potential bathtub full of pink jelly for his old sword how two different people agreed, "100 to 500 e." His response was along the lines of, "Wow, seriously? Interesting. But muhahaha they can never have my sword! It's mine!" followed by, sadly, his reply to my asking him to come play GW anyway, "meh, no, I don't wanna."

So I do appreciate the replies on this, and I will leave it here for posterity. But my own desire for PC on this particular sword is over now. Anyone who still wants to reply, do feel free, for it might yet help the next guy!

Halloween 2010 Mausoleum "Commandeering a Mortal Vessel" - Oddly modded drops, no triple-mods

EDIT - Nov. 30 - The ones I've decided to sell are now listed for sale here. I'll leave notes on final sale prices before shutting it down.

I'm thinking about selling off all this remaining stuff I kept from the 2010 Halloween fun with the glitchy Mausoleum. I realize such things are practically impossible to PC ahead of time, but I'm wondering if anyone can offer opinions on reasonable reserve prices or past sales of similar items. I was out-of-the-GW-loop for a good portion of the time these were around and traded. So, we've got in the above picture ...

r10 max gold Hooked Scythe, inherent 15^50

r10 non-max blue Raven Scythe, inherent 11v50

r10 max gold Pronged Spear, inherent 15stance

r10 max purple Broadhead Spear, inherent 16v50

r6 non-max blue Tribal Spear, inherent 12^50

r9 max gold Reinforced Buckler, inherent 10vBlunt & suffix* +60wH handle

r10 max gold Ornate Buckler, inherent -daze & suffix* +58wH handle

r10 non-max blue Crude Shield, inherent +6vUndead & suffix* +18 handle

r10 max gold Shamanic Wand, inherent +4wH & suffix* 10HSR wrap

r13 max gold Golden Pillar, inherent +5wE & suffix* 19% HSR wrap

r9 max purple Idol (normal/hand skin,) inherent +8v50 & suffix* +26 core

r13 max purple Earth Scroll, inherent 8vUndead & suffix* 17% HCT core

r12 max purple Jeweled Chalice, inherent 8% HSR all & suffix* 9% HCT core

* For these items, those suffix mods can be salvaged off but cannot be reapplied.

I figure most of them are simply curiosities and not at all likely to lead to any bid wars, but perhaps the gold scythe and spear are worth quite a bit?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Cheers,
Luny

I want it noted for the record that I resisted and published this OP without even one bullet list or spoiler button anywhere! I didn't even use indents.

Bump! Someone, anyone? Ideas on anything above at all?

A couple folks have gotten in touch after reading this who are interested in buying some of the mauso drops (some EXTREMELY interested.) I'd still prefer to do this in as close to a public offering as possible (ya know - for science!) but I would rather not start without set reserves. Making them up solely based on my own opinions/guesses seems rather silly.

And the more I see/learn lately about the market for 1-handed dual vamps, the more it's bugging me as I wonder what demand(s) is driving this alleged market for 2-handed versions. Someone please explain? (I'm used to not knowing exact PCs, but I hate not knowing why behind the PCs!) My only guess is some use for auto-suiciding characters who choose to go afk on paid runs. It seems like such a need could be easily met simply having them hold a normal vampiric-modded weapon, though; that couldn't be the only drive for 2-handed dual vamps, could it?

EDIT(S)

- @expugnare (aka Yuko ... to whom I apologize in advance for my future failures to refer to by the right name!)
Thanks for the reply! I thought the same about the 2-handed double vamps' uselessness, too, but then a few weeks ago I saw this in response to my PC reply indicating such about a "non-max, 14/-1hp "dual vamp" potential Clouded Maul

i dont think they are only used in pvp anymore=p
He didn't seem to know what was driving the demand either, but that's the post that piqued my curiosity about these things!

As for the Gothic, I've heard tell the r8 +5 sword market is mysterious lately, too. A very good and very inactive-in-GW friend might have such a sword sitting around, and I thought finding out current PC might have a chance of luring him back to activity.
- @ Fred
Thanks for the reply, too! Also thanks for this link you showed me from the r9 15^50 inherent Embossed Scythe that sold pretty fast for the 105e b/o as soon as it was posted from Sept. 2011.

As for your theory on the demand for two-handed double vamps, I guess that could be all there is to it. It certainly wouldn't be the first (and certainly wouldn't be the last) time in GW when "fair market value" went up or down for reasons that lack any strong base in functionality. If it's such, I can live with that, sure. I'd still be very interested to hear if anyone knows or suspects what functional purpose these may serve to drive up demand.
- @ Showtime
Thanks to you, too, for posting that! (I did pester you earlier by PM to share your insight here after reading your reply to another recent PC thread ...)

It may not actually be related, but I've noticed more and more people spamming in Kamadan to buy 20v50 inscriptions. I heard rumors it was for situations where the "tank" intentionally keeps health below 50% to keep AI focus, but I never heard where this was used exactly. If that's the case, then having ANY double vamp to hold pre-fight suddenly makes a lot more sense! Sure, a one-handed dual vamp paired with a -50 cesta might get you to that critical 50% point a bit faster, but you'd still have to switch to your main weapon slot for the actual fight if the point was simply to stay below half, holding aggro without dieing. The time saved getting to 1/2 is probably quite significant on a speed clear team if the tank has -2hp degen instead of -1hp in the pre-aggro stage. That would help explain the functional/practical demand for such things.

It might also shed new insight to where the end-user demand for fancy double vamps is coming from. Rich PvPers do like their shinies, sure. But to spend that much on something they only need to hold temporarily, and only if things go wrong ... I dunno, fancy gear to hold and show off on DoA SC teams makes at least as much sense, if not more, to me.

Now, I'm sure there will be folks who know the real answer and folks who'd rather keep it as quiet as possible (I can't blame them for wanting to keep their market cornered as long as possible!) But this is the internet, and the cat always gets out of the bag sooner or later. I wonder if some brave soul will step up and offer confirmation or correction to such theories.

Based on my knowledge, dual vamp two handed weapons are pretty much useless. I can't really shed any wisdom about pricing, but I can't imagine it fetching too much.... I'd wait for some more opinions.

The r8 +5e Gothic Sword could be worth anything from 100-500e. The market for r8 caster swords has ... mysteriously ... exploded recently--for example a r8 +5e Cele and Zodiac both were going for around 700e, so I'd imagine a nice skin like gothic can easily get that high. Keep your eyes open, there are definitely a few WTB threads looking for those kinds of swords.

Hope that helps,

Yuko

P.S. As a very experienced (used to run for Ling's service) Mission/Handbook/Dungeon runner that constantly had to work with AFK people, I can say pretty certainly that most people just used whatever vamp weapon at hand.

Just gonna throw out my guesses based on my observations. Take them with a grain of salt

For the bow, I would think you could probably get anywhere from 10-50k for it based on the dual-vamp inherent alone. Sadly I cant tell you WHY that is, but it seems to be the trend that mods like that command decent prices. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say its something of a fad that the obby-wearing-rave-glove-sporting-bleeding-animal-staff-toting-stick-skinny-13-year-old-sin crowd has decided is cool. In order to be teh 1337 haxzor, you must have this new badge of awesomeness that is a dual-vamp weapon

the r8 gothic sword. Honestly it really all depends on interest, and I'm inclined to agree with the 100-500e range. However I would like to point out that there does appear to have been a fair amount of interest in other r8 +5e swords recently, so I would most likely try to shoot for the higher end of that range, and wouldnt be surprised if it went for more.

Which then brings us to the mausoleum drops. I'll break them into a couple groups
  • The gold spear and scythe
  • The blue spear and scythe
    .
  • everything else

Basically the preceding has been my best guess. For the mausoleum stuff, I based my pricing off of a SINGLE other item and tried to extrapolate reasonable amounts from there. I've no idea if its accurate, but it is honestly what I would go for/expect if I were selling these items.

PS. Lists and buttons just for you
PPS. I wanted to see what a button within a button looked like. Now I know

EDIT: I'm reading things that dont exist it seems

I was told DOA speed records from 1 buyer and just doa from another who wanted to buy both of my vamps. And then I sold my r13 wicked blade for buyout 50k and noticed my r9 dual gothic going for 70e so far.

Hope it helps.

Probably the last bump here, just in case anyone else wants to chime in on something. Thank you all for your replies!

Now I can use bullet lists! Yay!
  • As far as the weird inherent Mauso stuff goes, Fred's example thread and feedback helped to solidify my own ideas on reserve for some items (the merchfoodier of the bunch) and gave me at least a starting place to pick reserve on the fancier stuff. Thanks Fred!
    ---------------
  • As far as the r8 +5 Gothic Sword goes, I think the consensus would be that it's quite hard to guess a "fair market value" ahead of time in the current market. Sadly, my whole plan for getting us one more data point won't serve my ulterior motive of luring a good friend back to the game. Bummer, but thank you guys for the replies!
    ---------------
  • For the two-handed double-vamp potential Half Moon ...
    • I thank those who helped me guess prices!
    • Big thanks to Showtime for helping me form a theory (at this point, that's all it is - a theory) on where the demand for two-handed dual vamps might be coming from!
      • There are some popular meta farming/sc'ing teams where the "tank" character intentionally drops and stays below 50% health as an aggro-management tactic. (Over the past couple years, I've noticed a surprising frequency of players spamming to buy 20v50 "Vengeance is mine" inscriptions around Kamadan at times. That's the sort of thing I thought was merchfood, and I still don't see enough demand to use storage space holding them until I find a buyer. But I notice a new buyer every few days to a week.)
      • If those "tanks" are using a 20v50 weapon during the fight, then a two-handed double vamp would drain half the health they need drained just as fast as a one-handed double vamp with a -50 cesta, given that they probably cannot hold the -50 cesta while tanking. On something like a speedclear team, using a double-vamp weapon would halve the time the tank has to spend before the fight getting ready; and speedclear probably puts a premium on such time savers.
      • This other demand/market for double-vamp weapons beyond the PvPers who need suicide weapons for countering timekill tactics (the use for the one-handed double vamps most of us are so used to now) might help explain why ...
        • Two-handed double vamp weapons (bows and hammers) are marketable after all. (I'd thought they were merch food if not some oddball curiosity/collectible thing, nothing of functional/useful value to "the meta" and therefore, PCed as only niche market items.)
        • Some of the fancier double vamp weapons, especially the one handed, seem to fetch such high prices. I get that PvPers are often rich and want their shiny stuff, sure! But the idea that lots of them would pay 200k+ just to have a leet skin on the weapon they use to kill themselves, holding only for a minute or two and only if things in the match go wrong ... that always struck me as odd. If you add to the market for fancy, shiny show-off double-vamp gear the list of folks playing tank in speedclear/farming teams in PvE, the prices I've seen and heard about start to make more and more sense.
    • So that's just a theory! While Fred's suggestion is certainly possible, too, (and gets bonus points for making me laugh) I'm unavoidably biased in favor of theories/explanations for gear demand in this game when they have a more solid footing in something practical and useful to players. Sure, every market for gear will have the slimy to shiny range of options! But when even the slimiest stuff seems easy to sell, I can't help but suspect there's some practical use behind it all.
    • I'm still not at all sure how to PC double-vamps, especially bows and hammers. I'm not going to advise they be merched anymore when I try to help answer PC, though.
    • If anyone knows this theory to be right or wrong, it would be great to hear from you here! If it's wrong, please do explain why.

Once more, just in case someone's willing to speak up about the theory in the above post. (I hate not knowing!)

EDIT

- @ Chaos - Thanks for the reply!

I don't think there is a demand for vamp bows be lucky to get 20k for it imho
Well, that's my point, though. If the theory is right then there is a market for double vamp weapons that does not require the -50 hp offhand, i. e. hammer and bow versions; therefore, I shouldn't PC doublevamp bows and hammers as, "... probably hard to sell because the main market for double vamps requires the -50hp in the other hand. ..." anymore. Maybe they're a lot easier to sell than I thought.

As far as how much that particular bow sells for, I don't actually care about the money - just the process. I had it as a spare and wanted to shut up the voice in my head carrying on about, "Wait, is the market for these things more than just fellow collectors of weird stuff? Are a significant number of folks using these somewhere besides GvG??"
